2026 Goal Setting
Rose: All time best resolution is to make each year better than the last
Maudey: I want to feel more joy this year
Jack: I promise to be more motivated towards progress
Joe: I am excited to work on my health this year
Christopher: I am challenging myself to write more
Chad: I want to make real progress on my OCD
Matthew: I want to connect with more spellers this year
Sam: Hoping teaching more people about spellers has a positive effect on the world
Alex: I want to share Maude’s goal of letting in joy this year.

Joe: So many times I have not seen the point of resolutions. Saying you will do something is pointless if you don’t have the tools you need. This year I have tools and support and hope. This is the combination that makes change possible this year.
Maudey: That is true. Talking about the future for real is our hope. Real hope is like sunlight to a flower. My happiness is the flower.
Chad: We can share tools to help each other.
Matthew: Maudey that was beautiful. I agree sharing what works for us is the best support.
Sam: Everything about this supports my goal. I feel Maudey has only joy to share. I feel she always spreads joy. I also want her to feel more joy this year.
Maudey: I feel the shared experience we have is a bond that feels beautiful. Thank you Sam. I am thankful. Alex, I like sharing a goal with you.
Chad: I need some strategies to work on the OCD
Matthew: Not sure about OCD but working out definitely helps me get more control over my body.
Sam: Happy that we can share strategies. Everyone is different but spelling as much as you can helped me feel more in control.
Maudey: There is a massage made to help connect brain and body. I think it could help you with this goal.
Joe: Maudey is right it helped me a lot. I also think Cross Fit has helped me get more purposeful movement.
Rose: Movement you control helps you get more control. Find work outs you love and make them routines.
Jack: Swimming makes me feel my body. I feel in control most in the water.
Chad: Thanks guys. I love these ideas.
Sam: I am sure we can all learn from each other.
Maudey: I agree and I think we all gain so much when we collaborate.
Matthew: Happy these conversations will be shared so they can help others too.
Christopher: Already excited about this conversation. Maybe we can all offer strategies for breaking our loops. Chad, I struggle with OCD too. It is a battle. Always wearing me down yet nothing is too big for you to fight. Being disciplined when you can helps. Having strict parents helps too. They are on Team Christopher not Team OCD. They help me fight by being strict about expectations. They know what I am capable of and don’t let OCD get in the way.
Matthew: I would like ideas for connecting with spellers. I want to know where you guys go besides here.
Alex: Feeling fulfilled by opportunity today. A major project feels great. Learning new strategies from each other is also good. I think Matt would have a good time in our Sunday group. Meeting more spellers is how we find our people.
Maudey: All people need this connection. I love going to dance parties with other typers.
Christopher: I want to interrupt the yelling. I have lots of vocal stims but sometimes I get real loud. Not sure why. I think it is extra energy.
Joe: Christopher, I think if you want to work on the goal, you can make a plan with your support team. Like when you get loud they can help you get your energy out.
Alex: I am called to say that real stims are important and you should do what your body needs.
Rose: I agree with Alex that your stims are important. Your nervous system is in need of regulation.
Chad: I am happy to share support with you all. All of you have great goals.
Maudey: Lets talk about other goals. My friend Jack has a good one.
Jack: I feel that I have been biding time lately. That it is ok to talk not about progress always but sit and get used to the progress you have made. But now I am ready for more progress. How do you guys push yourselves out of comfort zones?
Joe: I want to add to this. Jack that is true. After goals it is important to get them really into your body. You need time to adjust to new normal. Sometimes I feel it is hard to start new goals. Spending time to articulate the goal fully is necessary. One you are really sure of it it is easier to start.
Rose: Love that advice Joey. Yes that helps me get excited about things. Take time to plan. It is important. Not a waste of time to be sure of your plan. That helps.
Alex: Like Rose said the planning stage is vital. Plan, work, achieve! Then like Joe said take time to integrate into your body and rest before you plan a new step.
Sam: All good advice.
Maudey: I am assisting Jack in this goal. Jack, I think you have been in an integrating stage for a while. Time to plan your next step, my friend.
Jack: I feel happy that you all experience the rest stage too. I am ready to plan. I need time only to think of the next step.
Joe: This is community. Imagine how much we can help each other if we were together full time.
Rose: Thoughtful discussions like this are my favorite. I want to do this every day in our forever home.
Sam: Happy we are supporting each other.
Joe: I like sharing strategies. Have that good feeling every time we talk about future stuff. I am most excited for the group goal. I think we can make real progress this year. I agree that regular updates are important. I am loving today’s update. I am really excited. I always think resolutions are just for show but this year they have real meaning. I now see a real future for myself in ways I did not before. Now I see a real plan that makes me happy. I see us building this into a permanent home for us and being together and supported gives me more happiness than I can make words for.
Rose: Not sure where to start but I definitely want to get this ball rolling. I think figuring out where to build is important but do we need a budget first? Then we can plan for real.
Jack: Happy to get this conversation going again. My feeling is that we need to start now. We need to find a place to move to that will be our forever home.
Maudey: Our group goal brings me joy. My resolution is to feel more joy and this is a perfect way to make it happen. I love dreaming big dreams with you all.
Rose: So much to say about future plans. So much to do. I want to make a list of steps. Ms Andie can start it.
Jack: I am glad my life looks like this. My knowledge tells me really strongly that we will build this future.
Joe: I think that with growth and support our future can be whatever we dream.

Reaching our goals ~ “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” Antoine De Saint-Exupery
If we ask people about their goals in life, we may get quick and precise responses-to find a certain kind of employment, to start a business, to learn to play an instrument, to retire early. But many of those same people may have no idea how they will accomplish their goals.
Having goals is important. Without goals, we don’t know where we’re headed. But having a goal is easy; planning to achieve it is the hard part. What’s the first step? How long will it take to reach the goal? What kinds of effort will we need to make? How likely is success?…
